Trotato. Last updated 9 October 2026.

The short version

Trotato does not send your data anywhere. Everything the app records stays on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no servers and no analytics. We cannot see your runs, because they never reach us.

What the app records, and why

Your location, while a workout is running

This is how the app measures how far you went and how fast, and how it keeps your running and your walking apart. Location is only read while a workout is in progress. It is used on your phone and stored on your phone.

Your step count, during a workout

This is how the app works out your cadence, which is steps a minute. It comes from your iPhone's own motion sensor.

What you tell it at setup

Your name if you give one, a photo if you add one, your race, your training days, any injury you mention, and a recent finish time if you enter one. All of it is optional except the answers the app needs to build you a plan.

Your workouts

Distances, times, paces, splits and which sessions you completed.

Where it goes

Nowhere. All of it is stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone. The app contains no code that sends data over the internet. Nothing is shared with us or with anyone else.

Third parties

Trotato contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party software kits. No third party receives your data from this app.

The one company involved at all is Apple, who handle subscription payments. Apple receives no workout, location or motion data from Trotato. Apple's own privacy policy governs what Apple does with your payment details.

Keeping it, and getting rid of it

Your data stays on your iPhone for as long as you keep the app. We retain nothing, because we never receive anything.

To delete everything: delete the app from your iPhone. That removes your plan, your workouts and everything else the app stored. We hold no copy, so there is no request to make of us and nothing left for us to delete.

To withdraw permission without deleting the app: open Settings on your iPhone, find Trotato, and switch off Location or Motion & Fitness. The app stops using them immediately. Anything already recorded stays on your phone until you delete the app.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account details. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription is currently active.

Permissions you can refuse

Location. Without it the app cannot measure a run, but you can still use it on a treadmill by typing your speeds in.

Motion and fitness. Without it you lose cadence. Nothing else changes.

Photos. Only used if you choose to add a profile picture.

You can change any of these in Settings on your iPhone at any time.

Children

Trotato is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

Changes
